Bloomberg News is requiring gender and racial diversity at its editorial board meetings — when executives or other people visit the newsroom to speak to journalists.
Shelly Banjo, the New York bureau chief, sent out the following on Friday:
Happy Friday New Yorkers,
Thanks for joining our bureau meeting yesterday. It was really wonderful to see you all — if you missed it you can go back and watch here: LIVE ——— <GO>
An IMPORTANT reminder as the March 7 RTO date approaches: If you are sick please do not come in the office. It doesn’t matter if you test negative for Covid, it makes other people uncomfortable to work next to people who are sick so please stay home.
Also, a quick note on editorial boards — please EMAIL me and Shartia Brantley at the beginning of the process of securing editorial boards or bringing in big newsmakers into the officer due to Covid testing, security, etc. A reminder: We must have gender and racial diversity in the room. Just like our panel rule, we don’t do an edit board without at least one woman in the room. And if you’ve agreed to come to an edit board, the expectation is that you show up.
We have a great line up of events over the next month for international women’s day, so visit BOB IWM <Go> for volunteer events and cultural opportunities. And if you’d like to support Bloomberg’s nonprofit partners in humanitarian efforts in Ukraine, go to RELIEF <GO> and read this memo about Bloomberg’s Corporate Philanthropy.
