MANILA, Philippines — Senator Imee Marcos on Wednesday stated she is “very deeply interested” in managing possibly the Senate finance, overseas relations, or agriculture committees in the incoming Congress.
Interviewed on ANC, Marcos mentioned possessing familiarity with the Senate finance panel, the committee tasked to direct price range deliberations in the higher chamber.
“I’m not specified what would be ideal at this point—the finance committee would, of study course, be fascinating simply because I was a vice chairman there,” she said.
“I’ve been a vice chairman there, as I was in Congress a hundred many years in the past, so medyo sanay ako diyan. But there are several other factors that we’re quite deeply intrigued in,” she added.
Among these is agrarian reform and the agriculture sector, according to Marcos.
“I’m quite deeply dedicated to the condonation of agrarian reform land, so that’s important to me, as well. And of system, there is agriculture due to the fact good rates have skyrocketed and they’re affecting the lousy in an exorbitant and terrible way,” she stated.
Marcos explained she is also intrigued in tackling overseas affairs challenges, stating the nation faces “all sorts of problems” in terms of its foreign policy.
“Foreign affairs is really fascinating at this level, we confront all types of troubles in our policy. Maybe it is time to search at new tips like joint border patrols with China and the other claimants,” she stated.
“Maybe it is time that we reinvigorate our U.S. relations. There is a whole lot of stuff that needs to get performed,” the senator added.
At present Marcos is the chair of the Senate electoral reforms, economic affairs and cultural communities committees less than the 18th Congress, which is set to adjourn sine die starting June 4.
